Connect ChatGPT to FavStash and check it works
ChatGPT connects to FavStash as a custom MCP app. FavStash's ChatGPT directory listing is still pending, so today you add it yourself — it takes a few minutes.
- 01Open ChatGPT settings → Connectors (ChatGPT connector settings). Custom MCP apps are subject to Developer mode and your workspace's permissions.
- 02Add FavStash as a custom MCP app and sign in with your browser (OAuth). The AI Connect guide shows the current values.
- 03Verify it works: ask "Find three things I saved about hooks. Do not create any posts yet." A successful search, including an empty result for a new stash, checks access before you authorize publishing.

Know what ChatGPT can't do here
- No directory one-click yet. The listing is pending; setup is a custom MCP app and depends on your ChatGPT plan's Developer mode and workspace permissions.
- No comment or DM replies. FavStash doesn't manage them.
- No source video downloads or offline playback.
- Remote connections can't read files on your computer. To upload local video, use the CLI route (Codex, Claude Code, Cursor) or ask ChatGPT to import media from a link.
- Scheduled times are queued in UTC — read back the time ChatGPT confirms.
- ChatGPT writes, FavStash publishes. You review drafts on the calendar before they go live.

Keep ChatGPT's access scoped and revocable
- Sign in with OAuth in your browser; ChatGPT never receives your platform passwords.
- Every request is scoped to your account. Tokens stay server-side. Never paste tokens or keys into a chat.
- Revoke access any time in AI Connect (caches may take up to five minutes to expire).
- FavStash doesn't use your saves to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's.

Fix the usual connection problems
- ChatGPT can't find the FavStash tools → check Developer mode and your workspace's custom-app permission, then reconnect.
- "No channels connected" → link accounts in Portal → Schedule, then ask ChatGPT to list connected accounts.
- The test returns zero counts → that is a valid result for an empty stash; save something and retry.
- A post errored → open it on the calendar; transient failures retry automatically, others need the cause fixed and a requeue.
