Use FavStash's get_stash_summary tool once with no filters. Report whether it succeeded and the returned counts. Zero counts are valid. Do not modify any data.

A successful response can include zero counts. Browser approval, configuration, or tool discovery alone does not verify access to your account.

OAuth is the default. For unattended jobs or hosts without OAuth, create a scoped API key in AI Connect and store it as FAVSTASH_API_KEY in your local secret environment. Never paste tokens into a chat or commit them.

Use favstash auth status to inspect local sign-in, favstash doctor to check remote compatibility, and favstash auth logout to revoke the CLI session. An API key in the environment takes precedence over OAuth.

If sign-in is approved but the agent reports an initialization or protocol error, save the error and your client version for support. Repeating sign-in may not fix a server compatibility issue. Verify a read after reconnecting before calling the setup complete.

OAuth credentials use the OS credential store. On a private machine without a usable keychain, explicitly choose favstash auth login --credential-store file. For SSH, containers, and cloud tasks, the browser must be able to reach the CLI’s loopback callback; otherwise use the host’s remote OAuth support or a securely supplied API key.

Update with npm install -g @sketric/favstash-mcp@latest, then restart the agent. A remote MCP connection cannot read arbitrary paths on your computer.

Install FavStash in this agent by following https://www.favstash.app/INSTALL_FOR_AGENTS.md; you may configure only the FavStash MCP connection, request permission if required, complete browser sign-in with me, and verify a read-only tool call before reporting success.

An agent with local tools can follow the installation guide. Hosted chat may need you to add the connector in settings. FavStash is listed in Claude’s connector directory; the ChatGPT directory listing is pending.

CLI, package, and bridge#

The npm package installs the favstash CLI and the favstash-mcp executable. The CLI handles login, setup, and diagnostics. The bridge translates the local agent’s MCP requests into calls to the hosted FavStash service and uploads local media when supplied. They are parts of one installation, not three competing connection methods.

The install prompt guides your agent through the available connection options and browser sign-in. API keys are also available for unattended automation.

Local files and hosted chat#

Remote MCP can import server-fetchable HTTPS media URLs, but cannot read a path on your laptop. The local bridge accepts local files, validates them, uploads them into FavStash media storage, and forwards the resulting HTTPS reference in the same tool operation. The ChatGPT adapter also supports its host-native attachment inputs.

Meta Muse#

Open the Muse setup guide and paste its setup prompt into a Muse conversation to configure a custom connector to the remote service. Meta documents custom connectors, but FavStash’s browser OAuth flow has not yet been verified in the Muse personal assistant. If OAuth is unavailable, enter a scoped key only through Muse’s secure credential prompt. Muse Code is a separate product; its terminal commands do not apply here. OAuth is already supported by FavStash’s remote service. The CLI adds its own browser flow and OS-backed local credential storage. Each client manages its own session; configuring one does not sign other clients in. API keys remain available for automation. Do not paste credentials into a chat.

Manage tracked OAuth grants in AI Connect. Existing connections appear after their next refresh or sign-in. Revocation stops subsequent MCP calls and refresh; REST authorization caches may take up to five minutes to expire.
