Getting started

Create an account, install the mobile app, and save your first reel — start to searchable in about five minutes.

1. Create your account#

Head to favstash.app and hit Go to Portal — you can sign up with your email right there. The same account works everywhere: mobile app, web portal, and the AI connection.

2. Install the mobile app#

The mobile app is where saving happens (it's the thing living next to your doom scroll):

Sign in with the account you just created. On first run you can pick a few starter collections — folders like the ones you'd make anyway, minus the effort.

3. Save your first reel#

This is the whole trick, and it's two taps:

  1. Find a reel, TikTok, or Short you want to keep.
  2. Tap the platform's native Share button.
  3. Pick FavStash from the share sheet.
  4. (Optional) Choose a collection and add a note — "the lemon pasta thing", "steal this hook", whatever future-you needs.

That's it. The save is in your stash. Supported public links include Instagram Reels and posts, TikTok, YouTube videos and Shorts, and LinkedIn posts or articles.

4. What happens next (enrichment)#

The moment you save, FavStash gets to work in the background:

  • Title & metadata — pulled from the post so the save isn't just a naked link.
  • Transcript — the full spoken text of the video, when one is available.
  • Summary & hook — a short AI-written summary plus the extracted hook (the first-seconds line that made you stop scrolling).
  • Semantic indexing — everything above goes into a search index that understands meaning, not just keywords.

Enrichment runs asynchronously and may take longer when a fallback is needed. Transcript and AI analysis follow your plan allowance; source availability and processing determine which fields are populated. Search uses the information actually extracted, plus your own notes.

Enrichment automatically adds searchable context. You choose the collection and can add a note when you save.

5. Find it in the web portal#

Open the Portal and go to Stash. Your save is there with its available metadata, enrichment, and collection. Try the search bar — type what you remember, not the exact caption:

Available captions, transcripts, and on-screen text can help match the idea even when your query uses different words.

Where to next#

  • Stash & search — collections, notes, and how search actually works.
  • Channels — connect Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or a LinkedIn personal profile.
  • AI Connect — let your AI assistant use your stash.
